Spent the day working on TV’s and computers. Got one TV fixed and another one figured out, just gotta get parts, and a power supply swapped out in a computer. Bit of cleaning up and moving stuff at the yard sale trailer and a fair amount of walking around looking for the old popup camper top. Still ain’t found the sucker. Getting the idea some sorry arsehat releaved me of it while I was leaving the gate on the other side open. Hoping to get back to the frame building tomorrow. Till then…
Different kind of work day
November 13, 2008 by depatty
Had a pretty good Thursday. Worked on getting new computers ready. Unpacked all the ones still boxed up (”And there was much rejoicing!”) got them all Ghosted (”And there was MUCH rejoicing!”) and even found homes for all the boxes (”And there was MUCH rejoicing!!!”) The room that they were all stacked in has a visible floor now….got three more deployed, not without a little bit of trouble, of course. One machine would not reliably map a drive without having to use a stupid computer trick. Weird. Another one went OK, it just took FOREVER to copy files over. A GB of mail files, with a few other things. And this was AFTER compacting the mail folders. Don’t want to know what it was before.
After that it was quitting time +1 hour, so I went home and got ready and we went to the funeral home in Gadsden. The wife’s best friend’s father passed away Wednesday, and we went to the viewing. They really need a better name for that activity, because while the body gets viewed (which is not my favorite part–just cremate me and put my ash to work in an hourglass) the visiting and remembrance that goes in is a Good Thing, methinks. Hit Krystal on the way home and came home and watched a show about ancient torture devices on the History Channel. Gotta wonder how many people there were taking notes to use in their work….gruesome thought, but probably someone was.
Oh well, today is another day. Going to work till about one or so, and then come home and go with the wife to the funeral. Have a good one.
Do you also repair flatscreen TV’s?
I can work on the LCD flatscreen TV’s but leave the big projection TV’s to the dealers. You bring it to me only, no house/service call’s, as it is only me and service calls take way too much time away from shop work time.
